I love bread. Every week hubby will sure buy bread for us. An eight pieces of whole meal bread can cost about RM3.80 to RM4.20. It cost more if you buy at a more fancy bakery like the one in Tong Hing. So why not make your own bread. I actually paid a friend to teach me how to make bread. I value people's sweat and willingness to teach so last month he came to my mom's house to teach us how to make bread and bun. It was fun but I was so busy with Sona that most of the time I was not in the kitchen. I just ate the freshly baked buns and bread. So after about a month, I tried it last night and this is what I had this morning..a freshly made bread. I am soooo happy and I think hubby is also happy.
I baked it last night so we had it for supper with my favourite Yeo's Ikan bilis sambal. Last night it was crunchy and this mornig it was so soft. I am so happy that apart from making cake, I can make my own bread. My maid was also excited to see the process of bread making. It's not that hard, just need to have time to make them and some investment of course. It took money to save money in the future! Cost wise,i t's cheaper ( the initial cost if of course high as you need to buy the bread mould ) and the most important things is, I can eat freshly baked bread...that satisfaction nothing can replace.Hubby asked me to buy wholemeal flour after this. So bye bye bakery bread!
Pst..do you know that they add some kind of 'additive' to the bread and buns( sorry i have yet to find the name of it) to make the bread and buns last longer on the shelf?...i love bread and buns and I think I rather make my own. I just need to spare some time to make them.

i tried to make bread but looks like the fermentation didn't come very good. ( maybe temperature and the humidity problem? )

hi,
I've been making my own bread for a couple of years now.
The bakeries use bread improvers and softeners, thus the texture.
However, once you get the hang of making your own, and get used to the taste of home made bread, you'll never go back and buy from the bakeries.
I use butter as the fat ingredient as it gives the best flavour.
Happy baking!
